TOM WATERS

Juried Artist Member since 2022

Born in Plymouth Massachusetts in 1960, Tom Waters is an artist working from his current hometown of Essex, Vermont. Fascinated by everything outdoors as a child, Tom harbored an interest in art and photography his entire life. It wasn’t until his late 40’s, however, that the arts become integral to his career, first spending several years as a Graphic Designer.

Tom began painting seriously in 2012, and continued to paint while simultaneously managing the Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, Vermont for the better part of 7 years. It was there that he learned to perfect his craft alongside artists like T.M. Nicholas, Andrew Orr, Eric Tobin and many of the great artists of New England. He is now a full-time artist devoted to landscape painting in oil.

Tom’s work has been displayed at area gallery shows, including at Bryan Memorial Gallery, Emile A. Gruppé Gallery, Visions of Vermont, The Lyme Art Association Gallery, Southern Vermont Art Center and Grand Isle Artworks. His work can be found at Vermont galleries: The Bryan Memorial Gallery, The Arthound in Essex, Emile A. Gruppé Gallery in Jericho and The Village Frame Shop and Gallery in Saint Albans.

In addition to the Rockport Art Association, Tom is a member of, and shows his work at, the Lyme Art Association, Essex Art League, Northern Vermont Art Association and the Southern Vermont Art Center.
