Dan Ross

Dan: I’ve had the pleasure of being an avid Cape Ann and American impressionist art collector for 35 years. I founded and ran an art fund for the last 25 years, bringing new investors in to the art world. I've lectured on art collecting at the Concord Museum, the Boston art show, and at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Maine.

I have also proven to be a really untalented sculptor, taking classes in both college and as an adult at the DeCordova, the benefit being I truly appreciate artists with talent, skill and vision.

My day job has been as CEO of a number of high tech firms. My most important job has been the wonderful pleasure of being with my wife for 50 years and being father and friend to our two incredible children.

Rosalie Sidoti

SECRETARY
Juried Artist Member – Painting

Rosalie Sidoti, a national award-winning artist, holds an advanced MA and BFA degree in Fine Art. She is a former university supervisor, juror, lecturer and instructor for various art organizations in the Northeast. Rosalie is the owner/artist of the Sidoti Gallery of Fine Art in Rockport, MA.

She describes herself as neither a pure impressionist nor a pure realist. Her intention is to immerse the viewer in the paintings with a feeling of quiet tranquility and inclusion. Rosalie is most gratified when the observer can feel the peace and visually experience the moment as presented on the canvas. Rosalie achieves a simple impression. She allows liberal and lyrical translation of that simplicity. To suit the moment, Rosalie takes pieces of what initially inspired her and composes the imagery by moving objects and creating a mood. She paints directly onto the canvas, deviating as much or as little necessary to capture the emotional impact it initially held for her.

Rosalie Sidoti allows her intuition to drive her work. She defines painting as not only a necessity but also a privilege. The importance of teaching, mentoring and continuous learning have been at the forefront of her artistic journey. She has dedicated herself to sharing her knowledge with the artists and students she taught at Tufts University Graduate School of Education, The School of The Museum of Fine Arts and at the various workshops in the New England area.

Kate Hanlon

Juried Artist Member – Graphics

Kate’s lifelong involvement with printmaking includes a 30-year engagement with the uniquely American medium of white line woodcut, also known as the Provincetown Print. Her images, a synthesis of observation and invention, reflect scenes from her life on Boston’s North Shore and her travels throughout New England and beyond. Kate aims to carry the tradition of white line woodcut into the 21st century.

“There’s something about working with wood that I love; its warmth to the touch, color and fragrance. The woodblock had a full life of its own as a tree before lending itself to my own creative impulses, and the history of its life is captured in the grain patterns that become a part of my print. It’s a sort of collaboration; in my response to the woodgrain, the tree lives again through my prints.”

A member of the Boston Printmakers and the Society of American Graphic Artists, Kate’s award-winning woodcuts may be found in numerous private collections, as well as the permanent collections of the Boston Athenaeum, the Boston Public Library, the Library of Congress, the Da Nang Museum of Fine Arts, Vietnam, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. She has twice participated in cultural diplomacy through the Art In Embassies program of the US Department of State.

Kate also expresses her creativity through drawing, painting, gardening and playing Irish fiddle, and is a popular teacher of drawing and printmaking throughout New England and beyond.

She currently resides in Newburyport, MA, but is planning a move to Deer Isle, ME in spring of 2025.
