At a basic level, crosshatching is a mark-making technique using lines which cross one another to develop areas of tone. But it’s incredibly versatile: by varying qualities like value, line direction, and scale, you can use the technique to describe so much more than just lights and darks. Join us for an online workshop where we’ll explore the technique through examples, practice, and discussion. A PDF handout will be provided after the workshop.

All skill levels are welcome. The group will be limited to 12 participants. Erica will send you an invite with the Zoom link before the meeting.

Supplies:
• a multipurpose sketchbook or drawing paper (preferably 9 x 12 in. or larger)
• drawing pencils of different hardness (one HB and a 2B or softer)
• pencil sharpener
• 1 gray kneaded eraser
