The Rockport Art Association & Museum nurtures local artists of all ages. Each summer, the RAA&M offers weekly classes that explore a set of ideas and mediums to spark the imaginations of children. We understand that all students vary in their development widely from grade to grade.
JULY 8 - JULY 12, 2019 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Ages 6+
This class focuses on the animal form in sculpture. Each day, an animal friend will join our class as we experiment with clay and mixed media! We will create architectural environments, figurative sculpture, and clay vessels!
JULY 15 - JULY 19, 2019 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Ages 8+
Have fun while learning to develop your drawing and painting skills. Become familiar with the elements of basic drawing, observation, perspective and composition, as well as color mixing and watercolor techniques. Plein air drawing and painting methods will be used with beautiful Rockport as your outdoor studio. This popular workshop concludes with an art show on the last day that is enjoyed by family and friends.

Come explore art using a variety of fun materials. Featuring lessons that inspire creativity. Each day brings a new adventure! Projects include clay whistles, papier mâché masks and unique jewelry just to name a few.
AUGUST 5 - AUGUST 9, 2019 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Ages 6+
Making sculpture with clay is fun! We will learn about design and discover elements of art, line, shape, form and texture. We may have a few furry friends visit and inspire our creation process!
AUGUST 12 - AUGUST 16, 2019 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Ages 8+
Students will learn about mixing paint colors and how to make amazing brush strokes with acrylics. Painting projects will include working towards a frameable piece of art, as well as exploring techniques for painting on wooden surfaces and creating slate signs.
AUGUST 19 - AUGUST 23, 2019 | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Ages 8+
Students will create framed shadow-box collages that celebrate a favorite person, place or thing... suitable for hanging or giving. Students will explore the world of collage, composition and symbolism; and will be encouraged to use provided "found" objects, as well as their own small watercolors and graphic writing.
